Jack the Ripper

Jack the Ripper

"Jack the Ripper" the name given to the unidentified serial killer who was active largely in the Whitechapel area in 1888. The name originated from a letter sent by someone claiming to be the murderer; though highly thought to be a hoax letter. Other names given to the murderer was "Leather Apron" and "The Whitechapel Murderer". Ripper was known to kill his victims by "deep throat slashes, abdominal and genital-area

mutilation, removal of internal organs, and progressive facial mutilations". The most well known victims of Jack the Ripper were The Canonical Five who were five prostitutes around the Whitechapel who were: Mar Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddowes and Mary Jane Kelly. The extensive newspaper coverage made Ripper more notorious. There are many theories surrounding Jack the Ripper and who he actually was, one even being that he was Prince Albert!

Media and Jack the Ripper

Ripper street

Though set after the Ripper murders I think the cinematography looks perfect for what my group wants to archive in our trailer; it has a dark, underworld feel to it which reflects the infamous events that happen in it.

Whitechapel

This is a modern drama that is about a copycat killer who is influenced by Jack the Ripper and The Kray Brothers; another idea we had is that the film may be about a group of murders influenced by Jack the Ripper.

From Hell

A bit on the Hollywood side but this is what we like the idea of doing, it being based on the investigators who are working on the case. We thought the detective may be a bit like Sherlock Holmes and he would have an assistant.
