Steam- punk... a brief history

Steam Punk is a style of genre that originated in the 19980s and 1990s that combines elements of science fiction, horror, alternative history and fantasy. Where steam power is widely used- whether in a alternative history in Victorian era Britain, the Wild West or in a post- apocalyptic world. Most works of steam punk include futuristic  innovations as Victorian may have visioned them such as fashion, culture and art. Inspired by the Industrial Revolution, Steam Punk takes ideas from this and create items such as clothing weapons and furniture in the style of  the time with added "steam or spring propelled gadgets". Steam Punk is mainly based in the Victorian period and slightly in to the Edwardian era as well. Examples of media in the style of Steam punk are Disney`s "Atlantis The Lost Empire", the DC comic "The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen"  and the game "Bio Shock". Authors such as HG Wells, William Gibson and Gail Carriger.

Because of the growing popularity of Steam Punk as a community and a lifestyle. Steam Punk fashion has no set rules but is mainly influenced by the Victorian era but incorporates modern styles. This may include: gowns, corsets, petticoats, coats, top hats, spats, military inspired garments; Steam Punk is links to technology such as wearing goggles, ray guns and timepieces.

Our trailer for will be stylised to look Steam Punk such as the weapons and costumes used will be inspired by it but the story behind the film will be more focused on Victorian crime.
