Prep for Props Part Three

The creating of the letter......
For our trailer we needed to create a letter for Brooking to read which was by Jack the Ripper. We decided to go with the Saucy Jack Postcard which is one of the most well known letters written by "Ripper"
It goes like this

"I was not codding dear old Boss when I gave you the tip, you'll hear about Saucy Jacky's work tomorrow double event this time number one squealed a bit couldn't finish straight off. Had not got time to get ears off for police thanks for keeping last letter back till I got to work again.
Jack the Ripper"
This is how the original postcard looks like:

I felt that to create this genuinely will have more of a realistic look to it then just printing of the copy from the internet.

I started out with printing the back of the postcard from the internet as I thought it would be a little easier than trying to recreate stamps and official text.
I then made a cup of black tea, and made my boy friend write out the letter in his lovely scruffy writing to make it look genuine and like it was written quickly

I then put black paint marking all over the paper to look like bloody fingerprints

After that I put the lukewarm tea over the paper to try and give it a crinkled look to it. I then used a lighter to make the holes and the brown affect... the fire part was a little scary though!
TADA!! A LETTER BY A MURDERER
